We have a long journey ahead, but it is important...
So through the summer of 2020 as the world was struggling to live in this pandemic, the entire Cash family was working on how they could do their part with their knowledge and resources. Jim, a mechanical engineer who spent 35 years designing industrial air pollution control systems, and Olivia, about to graduate with a degree in mechanical engineering, started brainstorming on solutions.
After researching about how viruses are transmitted and comparing the safety of indoor environments with outdoor environments, they realized controlling indoor airflow in a new and unique way was the key. The solution is capturing droplets at the source of virus transmission (people’s breath). And so livFREEair was born. With their ground-breaking, patent-pending Targeted Airflow Technology, they began designing and building prototypes that clean and recycle the air surrounding each person. At the same time, the solution had to be innovative and blend into the environment seamlessly. The applications are endless but include schools, offices, restaurants and homes. After just 5 months of researching, testing and building, the Cash’s were so confident in the effectiveness of the Targeted Airflow Tables that their elderly grandparents were able to enjoy a normal Thanksgiving dinner with their family – the first users of the livFREEair table!
Jim earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from The College of New Jersey in 1985 and has worked in industrial air pollution control since. He currently has 20+ patents and patents pending. Interests include Warren Sound Studio, music production and automotive performance. Jim lives in Hackettstown, NJ with his wife, Mary, and family. DFSS Blackbelt.
Olivia graduated from The College of New Jersey this May, 2021 with her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Last June 2020 Olivia helped her family form livFREEair LLC in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. She co-authored and filed her first utility patent that was accepted and fast-tracked through the PTO Covid pilot program. Along with livFREEair, Olivia took advantage of leadership opportunities, study abroad experiences, and the liberal learning courses offered at TCNJ and was the project manager for her senior project, Human Powered Vehicle Challenge. Since graduation, Olivia passed the FE Mechanical Exam becoming an engineer in training (EIT)! In her free time, Liv loves to travel and enjoys spending time with her sorority sisters in Alpha Xi Delta.
Max worked as an automotive technician at Honda previous to livFREEair and has experience in plumbing, construction and landscaping. Max is leading the fabrication of all prototypes and works with Solidworks’ modeling and 3D printing. Max lives in Belvidere, NJ and enjoys spending his free time outdoors.
Sue Speziale began her career in the pharmaceutical industry as a bench scientist and then spent 18 years as a project manager in product development, primarily in the anti-infective therapeutic area. Sue has a MS in Biology/BioMedical Sciences and a BS in Biochemistry. Sue & husband Peter Lynch live in Manchester, MI

Founded in 2009, ARE Labs combines diverse educational backgrounds in chemical, electrical & mechanical engineering, chemistry, biology, and physics with practical experience in the fields of aerosol physics, aerosol chemistry, formulation, inhalation toxicology, and aerobiology. The ARE Labs team designs aerosol test systems and procedures to accurately characterize and evaluate a product. In July 2021 Aerosol Labs completed biological testing with live virus on the livFREEair table, halo and podium.
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is a technology used to predict air flow, heat & mass transfer, chemical reactions and other phenomena. Resolved Analytics' state of the art simulation software has been validated across a wide range of complex industrial problems and their CFD modeling can accurately determine how a system will perform. Resolved Analytics completed CFD modeling for the livFREEair system.
